Hi Friends! Before I share the 10 things you need to know to create an unstoppable mindset, I want to remind you that this all takes time. Nothing happens overnight and it took me years of researching on my own only to get nowhere. Facts. I had the jist of things, but I truly didn’t know how to incorporate what I was reading. It wasn’t until I invested in myself, truly invested in myself by hiring a mentor that I was able to master these mindset hacks. They are not always easy and at times you will slip up. We are all human! Life happens. We get derailed by major life events or circumstances. Give yourself some grace with no judgment.
As you read through these 10 things you need to know to create an unstoppable mindset, I would like for you to think if you are already doing some of these things.
Lastly, as with anything, practicing self-awareness and being deliberate in your interpretation of your thoughts will help you achieve that unstoppable mindset.
Limiting Beliefs
There’s no real way to progress forward in life if you’re stuck in your own head. Limiting beliefs can be derived from negative self-talk, stories that either you’ve heard over the years from those in your life who are closest to you, stories you’ve told yourself, or your brain using one failed event or situation to tell you that you can’t do something. We tend to take the opinions of those closest to us to heart, consciously or not. We are human.
If someone says, “You can’t do that” or “You’re not cut out for that,” the chances are that your brain is going to register this information as evidence that it must be true. You can self-sabotage relationships, opportunities or successes from staying stuck in those limiting beliefs. The idea is to realize these are just old stories and you get to change that. Switch out a limiting belief with a new empowering belief that will help you grow in your mindset.
I got a feeling…Trust Yourself.
One way to crush those limiting beliefs is to start trusting yourself more before you have all the answers. There’s this gut feeling, this instinct, your intuition, this feeling inside of you that tells you, “Go for it!” Yet, you hesitate or maybe you take no action or even better, you go and ask 5 of your friends, “What would you do?” I was soooo guilty of this for years!! This is a lack of self-trust. Trusting yourself involves moving forward with uncertainty but accepting it’s going to be OK. It takes giving yourself some grace, self-awareness around where your strengths exist and where you have weaknesses and aligning yourself with your values in life. It’s time to put the phone down and KNOW that you KNOW best! Listen to your gut! You totally got this, friend!!
Go straight, no turn here. Be Flexible.
You don’t always have to have one way to do something. Restricting yourself or not allowing yourself to have options but living a rigid way of thinking can hamper your mindset and close you off from other opportunities. Keep an open mind…be firm in your goals but flexible in how you get there. Know that it’s OK to pivot or redirect. Not everything has to be black and white. There is gray to play around in too!
Buckle up Fear! Be Fearless.
This does not mean you walk into every situation in life fearless. This means you carry fear with you as a passenger. Everyone experiences some level of fear with that new job, that new relationship, that new adventure…whatever it may be. But if you live in fear and allow fear to be the driver, fear will keep you stuck…fear will keep you stagnant…fear will get you nowhere close to where you want to be. Doing the damn thing with fear right alongside will help build resilience and courage. Welcome fear to ride along with you…buckle up Fear, we’re going to do this together!
What’s Your Vision?
If you don’t have a vision for where you want to be, how will you ever get there? When you have a vision for yourself and you follow along with these other areas of mastering your mindset, you will take the necessary action to make your vision your reality. Creating a vision creates possibilities and opportunities. Altering your mindset with your vision will change how you see things…where you once saw closed doors, they will now be open!
Camera, Lights…ACTION!
It’s very easy to say how much you would love to create a blog, become a fashion designer, travel the world or even become a successful entrepreneur. But if all you’re doing is thinking of these great ideas but not putting those words into action…friend, you will stay stuck right where you are now. DECIDE and then MOVE. Baby steps. Progress is progress, friends. We’re not looking for perfection…do it messy…but DO IT! MOVE!!
Fall down – then get back up! Accept Failure.
Look, we are all human. Being a perfectionist just isn’t ideal nor does it exist. Ok, so you failed at the last idea you had…and? Don’t let failure derail you from trying other ways to make your idea come to fruition. Don’t let failure define you. Failure means you are learning and you are trying. Failure also opens up other opportunities for you to explore, if you’re willing. Be willing to fail to grow.
Surround Yourself with Supportive People
One way to keep in alignment with your vision and mindset is to be aware of who you surround yourself with and who you keep company. It’s always best to find yourself a mentor, coach or if you have friends who are supportive of your goals and ambitions…keep your circle tight with these people. I can personally say from experience that nothing feels better than having the right group of women around you doing the damn thing by your side…different goals, but the unstoppable mindset of such a group is priceless!
Grateful, thankful – Practicing Gratitude.
It sounds so cliche, I know…but I never thought much of this until I started practicing gratitude myself. Realizing what you have AND what you desire are OK to have together. Being thankful for where you are in your life right now and truly embracing those very moments. Explore areas of your life where you are so grateful and blessed. We create more of what we express with our thoughts. Create more abundance and love in your life with the practice of gratitude.
Self-awareness
Learning how to be aware of your thoughts…which ones serve you and which ones that you need to just throw away. Not every thought requires our attention. Not every thought serves us for our higher self. Be deliberate in which thoughts you give attention to. Realizing how and why you are where you are in life right now. Not judging yourself but in receiving information about yourself that may direct you to why things have been done as they have or why they have not. You do not need to linger in these thoughts. The key is just practicing self-awareness. This is huge in creating an unstoppable mindset!
